About

Luís Tinoco is a Portuguese composer known for his orchestral, chamber, and vocal works that have been performed internationally. In recognition of his contributions to the arts, he was awarded the Prémio Pessoa in 2024 .

New double CD release: KOKYUU - works for soloists and orchestra

Artway Editions will release Luís Tinoco's new album featuring five works for soloist and orchestra recorded with the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra (cond. by Pedro Neves) and the Porto Casa da Música Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Joana Carneiro and Bastien Stil). The works featured in this CD are:

New work completed: music for the ballet Louis Lui, by Paulo Ribeiro.

This score was recorded by the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, cond. Pedro Neves in early September and will now have its live première by the Companhia Paulo Ribeiro and the Orchestre National de Cannes, cond. by Arie van Beek, at the Théâtre Debussy, Cannes

In a programme featuring Edgard Varèse's "Octandre" and Igor Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring", the Orquestra do Norte, conducted by Fernando Marinho will perform Luís Tinoco's "Before Spring - a tribute to The Rite"

"O Sotaque Azul das Águas" performed at Casa da Música

Sala Suggia - Porto 

"O Sotaque Azul das Águas" (The Blue Voice of the Water), composed in 2015 in response to a joint commission from the Orquestra Gulbenkian and the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), will now be performed by the Porto Casa da Música Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Joana Carneiro, in a programme entitled "O Azul do Mar" (The Blue of the Sea).

Kodu performs "Spiralling" at the Joaquim Benite Municipal Theatre

Teatro Municipal Joaquim Benite - Almada 

In the Sala Experimental of the Theatre, the Kodu Percussion Group's musicians Francisco Guerreiro, Ismael Gouveia and Jaime Pereira will perform "Spiralling", along with other works by Pedro Lima, Vasco Mendonça, François Tasdjian and Iannis Xenakis.
